These carvings have been cut from solid glass using a jet of water and abrasive traveling at twice the speed of sound.
The pressure is 55,000 pounds (27.5 tons, about equal to the weight of 13 cars) per square inch. This high pressure jet stream is squeezed down to 30 thousandths of an inch (0.030 inch) wide, the thickness of 10 sheets of writing paper.
The machine guiding this jet is computer controlled to an accuracy of 0.010 inch.
Many designs like these can be implemented for gifts and awards.
